NEW YORK, NY—LinkNYC and BlackFacts.com today announced a partnership to celebrate Black History Month by turning LinkNYC kiosks across New York City into virtual encyclopedias of Black history. Every day, the kiosks will display a new fact on their 55-inch side panel displays, bringing the rich heritage of Black history to every borough in the city and educating New Yorkers on the achievements and contributions of Black Americans. With the added convenience of free public Wi-Fi offered by LinkNYC kiosks, users can easily scan a QR code displayed alongside the facts and access a wealth of information and resources available on BlackFacts.com.

“LinkNYC is committed to bridging the digital divide because we want everyone to have access to information wherever they are. This collaboration is a perfect example of that mission in action — bringing interesting facts directly to New Yorkers, along with the connectivity they need to learn more,” said Nick Colvin, CEO of LinkNYC. “We are incredibly proud to help connect New Yorkers with the rich history of the Black community and I’d like to thank BlackFacts.com for helping inspire New Yorkers across every borough this month.”

BlackFacts.com, the world’s oldest and largest online repository of black history, will provide the daily facts that are displayed on LinkNYC kiosks. The website has been committed to preserving and promoting black history since its creation, and this partnership with LinkNYC is an extension of that mission.

“Black history is a critical part of American history, and we’re dedicated to preserving and promoting it in every way possible,” said Ken Granderson and Dale Dowdie, founders and owners of BlackFacts.com. “To have our work displayed on LinkNYC kiosks across New York City during Black History Month is a truly momentous occasion for us. This partnership gives us the opportunity to bring Black history directly to the people and educate and inspire a wider audience. We’re thrilled to collaborate with LinkNYC to help further our mission of promoting understanding and appreciation of black history and culture 365 days a year.”

Black History Month is a time to celebrate the achievements and contributions of Black people throughout history and to reflect on the ongoing struggle for racial justice. This partnership is designed to help raise awareness and educate the public about the rich history and cultural heritage of the Black community.
